From the moment you step out of your home, the fear is palpable. On the crowded streets of Kabul people gather in huddles, just one question on their lips: ‘When will they get here?’

The answer could be all too soon: as I write, Taliban forces — the ‘they’ to which everyone refers — are just 50 miles from my home city, heading determinedly towards the capital they are resolved will be under their control within days.

And they are right to be confident. One Afghan region after another — including half of the country’s 34 provincial capitals — has fallen to this violent and bloody regime…

  1. That’s the dilemma. Afghan women or young Americans. I don’t know the answer.
    I do know that by NOT sending troops to try and police Afghan women’s right no/troops will die.
    I know that whether we are there or not, women will die, and in dozens of other countries every day.
    If our troops are not deployed, then they and their families will not suffer from the side-effects of deployment.
    America First? First rule of First Aid is make sure you are OK. Then help others. America is not OK. You can’t help them if you are dead.
